Mr. Viswanathan represents and counsels employers in a variety of labor and employment matters. His practice includes employment discrimination litigation before the EEOC, the New York State Division of Human Rights, and in state and federal courts, unfair labor practice and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, labor arbitrations, and wage/hour compliance. Mr. Viswanathan has extensive experience in assisting employers with audits conducted by the New York State Department of Labor's Division of Labor Standards and Bureau of Public Work, and represents employers in wage/hour hearings before the Industrial Board of Appeals. He has spoken at numerous management and human resources seminars on various labor and employment law topics, including FMLA compliance, employee investigations, and workplace harassment.
Mr. Viswanathan is also Co-Chair of the firm's School Districts Practice Group. His practice for public school districts includes advice and counseling on employee discipline, tenure, recall rights, and layoffs. Mr. Viswanathan represents public school districts in disciplinary proceedings against employees under Education Law Section 3020-a and Civil Service Law Section 75, and in representation and improper practice proceedings before the Public Employment Relations Board.
