HR Assistant

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in more than 30 practice and industry groups, is accepting applications for a full-time Human Resources Assistant in our Syracuse, New York office. The ideal candidate will have an interest in all human resources functions, good communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities within a team environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR files, records, and documentation while upholding data integrity and confidentiality.
- Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to other members on the HR team.
- Run monthly reporting including voluntary benefits, negative balance report, overtime report, etc.
- Assist in managing various systems in the HR department to ensure records for each employee are current and accurate.
- Assist with the recruitment efforts for open positions.
- Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Runs background checks and initiates new hire intapp tickets when accepted offers are received.
- Communicates with new hire prior to day one including sending their welcome email.
- Coordinates orientation schedules for all new hires. On day one, conducts the office tour and assists with new hire orientation.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as community outreach events, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, retirement celebrations, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information systems and similar computer applications
- Associates degree in related field preferred.
- Prior HR experience preferred.

This position's salary range is between $50,000 to $55,000, negotiable based on years’ experience.
