Concurrent Session 6
Addressing Employment Law Concerns Arising from Employee Use of Technology
This presentation will address pressing labor and employment issues arising from evolving technology; including those that arise from employee misuse of technological devices (e.g., HIPAA violations), employee use of technology in service to the employer, as well as off-duty activities that couldn’t be less in the interest of the employer. Topics for discussion include:

  • Limiting wage and hour exposure when employees are connected when “off-duty;”
  • Addressing issues related to employee misconduct when using their own technological devices;
  • Ensuring employees cannot “hijack” your organization’s online presence; and
  • Complying with the National Labor Relation Boards’ recent decision concerning employee use of employer email for organizing activities.
