July 20, 2022
(Albany, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King is pleased to announce that Nihla F. Sikkander has been appointed co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Sikkander is a labor and employment attorney who provides advice and counseling on all aspects of employer-employee relations from hire through separation.
Prior to joining the firm, Sikkander spent more than 10 years overseeing the human resources and fiscal functions of a primarily federal funded, multilocation, nonprofit organization and has also worked in human resources management at a large financial institution.
“Diversity and inclusion are foundational values at Bond because they strengthen our connections to clients, communities and each other,” said Kevin Bernstein, chair of the firm’s management committee. “We’re so proud to see Nihla recognized for her contributions in this important area and look forward to her continuing work as co-chair of the Committee.”
The mission of the Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is to “promote and advance the full and equal participation of attorneys of color and other diverse attorneys in the New York State Bar Association and in all sectors and at every level of the legal profession through research, education, fostering involvement and leadership development in NYSBA and other professional activities, and to promote knowledge of and respect for the profession in communities that historically have been excluded from the practice of law.”
“Since joining the DEI Committee two years ago, Nihla has been a tremendous asset to the Committee, working on a number of important projects,” says Kimberly Wolf Price, a fellow committee member and Bond’s attorney professional development and diversity officer. “We’re excited to support Nihla in her new role and watch where she takes it.”
