Albany Attorney Has Been Named Co-Chair Of The Firm's Healthcare Practice Group

Mr. Fernandez practices in the areas of health law and governmental regulation, related litigation, and governmental representation. He has represented hospitals, long-term care providers, physicians and other health care professionals and entities. Mr. Fernandez has advised them on corporate governance, formation, establishment, purchases, mergers and regulatory compliance. He also advises and represents health care clients on fraud and abuse issues, Medicaid and Medicare audits, surveys, related trials, and professional discipline proceedings. Mr. Fernandez has handled numerous cases of first impression, and crafts regulatory and legislative solutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Fernandez served as Assistant Counsel to Governor Mario Cuomo. Before coming to Albany, he was a trial attorney with the Civil Division of the United States Justice Department in Washington, D.C., and judicial clerk to the Hon. John A. MacKenzie, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Mr. Fernandez has been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association, is Chairman of the Legislative Policy Committee, and a member of the House of Delegates and Health Law Section (Chair, Committee on Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Providers) and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Fernandez is a graduate of Le Moyne College and Syracuse University College of Law.
