Bond Elects Seven New Members

(Syracuse, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King is pleased to announce that effective January 1, 2019, seven attorneys have been elected as members (partners) of the firm. According to Kevin Bernstein, chairman of the firm’s management committee, “this represents the firm’s continued growth, stability and recognition of individual talent within the firm.” Bernstein went on to say that “Each of them is an outstanding lawyer, has consistently performed at the highest level, and possesses the qualities we expect and value in our members.” 

The new members are Stephanie M. Campbell (Litigation – Syracuse), Bethany A. Centrone (School Districts – Rochester and Syracuse), Candace J. Gomez (School Districts and Higher Education – Garden City), Michael E. Hickey (Labor and Employment – Buffalo), Ryan P. Keleher (Litigation – Albany), Hilary L. Moreira (Labor and Employment – Garden City) and Justin C. Tan (Litigation – Garden City). 

Bond Member Bios:
Stephanie M. Campbell is a civil and commercial Litigation attorney who counsels and represents corporate, municipal, and individual clients in Litigation matters pending in both state and federal courts. She has handled a wide variety of cases, including, for example, complex commercial Litigation, defense of federal False Claims Act cases, breach of Contract Claims, Property rights Litigation, easement and boundary line disputes, defense of civil and constitutional rights claims, employment actions, Article 78 Proceedings, and defense of personal injury actions. Stephanie's practice extends to all phases of civil Litigation, including pre-commencement investigation, pleadings, pretrial discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals. In addition, Stephanie has achieved favorable results for her clients in a number of alternative Dispute Resolution proceedings, including arbitrations and mediations. 

Bethany A. Centrone is co-chair of the firm's School Districts practice and concentrates her practice in school and Labor and Employment law. Prior to joining Bond, she served as chief of human capital initiatives for a large city school district and chief labor negotiator, where she led over 120 employees in areas of human resources, Employee Benefits, risk management, labor relations and professional learning. Bethany also served as Labor and Employment counsel for a large city school district, representing and advising the district in both School Law and Labor and Employment law matters. 

Candace J. Gomez represents School Districts, private schools, colleges, universities, corporations and individuals. She has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts, New York State Education Department impartial hearings, New York State Commissioner of Education appeals, and U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) investigations. Candace has provided general counsel services and Litigation services to some of the largest School Districts and universities in New York State. Her Experience includes policy development, contracts, school board elections, employee disciplinary proceedings, student residency requirements, Special Education and student disciplinary hearings. She also has extensive Experience defending clients in a variety of civil Litigation matters.

Michael E. Hickey is the trusted counselor for many businesses, hospitals, colleges, and Municipalities, assisting them in complying with the vast and ever-changing collection of applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and he is his clients’ tireless advocate when disputes bring them to court, arbitration or before a federal or state agency. He focuses his practice on representing and advising public and private sector employers in a wide-range of Labor and Employment matters.

Ryan P. Keleher is a Business and tort trial attorney who practices complex civil Litigation in state and federal courts. He has tried both jury and non-jury trials, argued at the appellate level and represented clients during hearings, mediations and Arbitration Proceedings. Ryan routinely represents individuals, corporations, insurance companies, third-party administrators, public entities and School Districts in the areas of breach of contract, Business torts, fraud, unjust enrichment, unfair competition, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference, covenants not to compete, non-disclosure agreements, Tax Certiorari, defamation, personal injury, premises liability, product’s liability, Construction accidents, labor law, motor vehicle accidents, fire/water loss, toxic tort and insurance coverage disputes.

Hilary L. Moreira is a Labor and Employment law attorney who represents and counsels employers in the public and private sectors in all areas of Labor and Employment law.  She regularly negotiates collective bargaining agreements and represents public employers in Civil Service Law Section 75 hearings, Education Law Section 3020-a disciplinary hearings, discrimination claims, employment Litigation and unfair labor practice proceedings before Federal and State agencies and courts. Hilary is well versed in Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disability Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Taylor Law and the New York State Human Rights Law.

Justin C. Tan is a Litigation attorney who focuses his practice in the area of Litigation support for Long Term Care providers in contract, commercial matters, employment, guardianships, medical malpractice, personal injury and Civil Rights Issues. Prior to joining Bond, Justin worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County. During his tenure as an Assistant District Attorney, Justin prosecuted violent felonies, conducted numerous trials, pre-trial evidentiary hearings and Grand Jury presentations.
