Courtney is chair of the firm's mergers and acquisitions practice. As a business and tax attorney concentrating in mergers and acquisitions, he regularly counsels clients on structuring, negotiating and managing public and private mergers and acquisitions, private divestitures, and other complex transactions, including spin-offs, split-offs, recapitalizations and joint ventures for corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. Courtney also advises clients regarding governance, disclosure and fiduciary matters.
He has been lead transaction counsel in transactions involving a variety of industries and sizes, some with operations in multiple states and countries.
Before joining the firm, Courtney was associated with Klett, Rooney, Lieber & Schorling, P.C. (now Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney), a Pittsburgh based firm. He is an accountant who has passed the certified public accountants exam and the New York State auditors exam.
