Erin Phillips is an intellectual property law attorney and a registered patent attorney concentrating her practice in all areas of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Erin prepares and prosecutes patent, trademark, and copyright applications, and advises clients on intellectual property issues in litigation.
IP Preparation and Prosecution
Erin conducts and reviews patent and trademark searches and determines whether her client is clear to use a technology or trademark in the marketplace. In addition, Erin advises clients regarding the patentability of an invention and whether a trademark is likely to be granted a registration at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Erin also has experience preparing and filing copyright applications for local artists and businesses.
In her relatively brief career, Erin has experience drafting utility patent applications for medical devices, software, biotechnologies, and mechanical devices, as well as design patent applications.
IP Rights: Enforcement and Defense
Erin also assists clients in enforcing their intellectual property rights. She drafts cease and desist letters for clients seeking to protect existing patents, copyrights, and trademarks, as well as assists in patent, trademark, and copyright infringement actions. In addition, she has assisted in the defense of clients involved in allegations of patent, trademark, and copyright infringement.
IP Transactions
In addition to obtaining and protecting intellectual property rights for clients, Erin also has experience drafting license agreements, assignment agreements, work-for-hire agreements, master service agreements, distribution agreements and sponsored research agreements, among others.
