Jim concentrates his practice on commercial real estate transactions. He provides thoughtful representation of developers, lenders, small businesses, institutions, municipalities and individuals in the purchase and sale, financing, development and leasing of commercial properties.
Jim is also a trusted advisor to clients on a wide array of land use, environmental, corporate, construction and civil litigation matters.
Jim has broad experience representing developers in the purchase, financing and permitting of retail, office, hotel and multi-family residential projects. He has worked with lenders and borrowers in closing permanent and construction loans secured by real estate ranging from shopping centers to warehouse space. Jim counseled a national telecommunication provider in navigating state and local permitting for wireless installations and utility companies in obtaining property rights for construction of electric and gas facilities. He has drafted and negotiated construction contracts for private entities, colleges and a non-profit affordable housing developer. Jim’s practice also includes advising professionals in the purchase and sale of dental, veterinary and medical practices, providing general counsel to municipalities on zoning and ordinance enforcement, and working with landlords and tenants in commercial leasing transactions.
