John's practice includes a broad range of commercial real estate areas. He devotes a substantial portion of his time to financing transactions as counsel to developers and lenders.
John also practices in the area of business leasing and general commercial transactions. He represents tenants, landlords and developers for a wide variety of office and industrial leasing and development projects. John also negotiates retail leases for both landlords and tenants.
John spent several years as counsel to the multi-state retail and mixed use developer. Acting in the capacity of chief leasing counsel, he gained wide recognition as an expert in commercial leasing and during that time he negotiated hundreds of leases with local, regional, and national tenants. Currently, John advises a notable group of regional and national clients in commercial lease negotiations. He has lectured on a wide variety of leasing topics and is a past member of the New York State Bar Association's sub-committee on commercial leasing.
John acted as outside general counsel to the largest privately owned rent-to-own company in the United States. His duties included advising the company in all aspects of regulatory compliance which varied widely among the sixteen-state area of operations. John was lead attorney for a $100,000,000 sale of the company to the second largest publicly traded rent-to-own company in the country. During the seven years of his representation, John became known nationally within the industry for his experience in rent-to-own regulations and compliance. He advises other rent-to-own companies concerning regulatory compliance and general corporate matters.
