Kyle is co-chair of the firm’s Collegiate Sports Practice Group. Since beginning his legal career with Bond in 2003, he has focused exclusively on the representation of colleges, universities and individuals in NCAA compliance and infractions matters.
Through more than 20 years of direct mentorship by industry leaders Mike Glazier and Rick Evrard, Kyle has developed a national reputation for effectively working with NCAA member institutions to investigate, process and report NCAA rules violations. Kyle’s experience in counseling colleges and universities during the course of NCAA enforcement investigations has equipped him to handle any issue concerning NCAA rules, and he actively consults with dozens of institutions on everyday NCAA compliance and eligibility matters, including the application of various state and NCAA Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) policies.
While the majority of Kyle’s clients are Division I members of the autonomy conferences (SEC, ACC, Pac-12, Big Ten and Big 12), he has assisted schools, conferences and student-athletes in each of the three NCAA divisions. He makes frequent appearances before the NCAA Committees on Infractions and Appeals Committees to present infractions cases on behalf of NCAA member institutions and has represented multiple universities impacted by the NCAA’s Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP).
NCAA Compliance Reviews & Program Culture Assessments
In addition to his work in the NCAA infractions process, Kyle designs and executes audits to assist campus administrators in evaluating existing systems and developing procedures to proactively monitor for compliance with NCAA rules.
Additionally, Kyle is often called upon to design and conduct external reviews of conduct-related issues within a college/university athletics department or individual sports program (e.g., hazing, discrimination, substance abuse, sports wagering). Due to the sensitive nature of such assessments, Kyle and other practice group attorneys work with institutional administrators to design a thorough review that will identify concerns, interview relevant parties and provide a comprehensive report of findings.
Over the past 20 years. Kyle has developed an extensive working knowledge of NCAA legislation concerning student-athlete initial- and continuing-eligibility and the legislative relief waiver and interpretive processes. He frequently assists NCAA member institutions, prospective student-athletes and student-athletes in complex amateurism, transfer and eligibility reinstatement matters.

Kyle frequently serves as an invited speaker on NCAA rules compliance and enforcement trends at university events and other panel discussions, including the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and the Annual Convention of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA).
Additionally, through his involvement in a number of high-profile infractions cases, Kyle is experienced in assisting clients with public relations and media statements that are consistent with NCAA requirements.
