Scott is a business law attorney who is a member of the firm’s exempt organizations practice and tax law practice. He engages in a broad not-for-profit and for-profit corporate and business law practice.
Scott has represented not-for-profit clients regarding corporate formation, obtaining tax exempt status with the IRS, merger, consolidation and dissolution; along with various other transactional matters and development of governance documents and policies. His practice also includes assisting clients with corporate mergers and acquisitions, with transactions ranging from stock and asset purchases to the consolidation of educational corporations under New York Education Law.
Scott also regularly advises not-for-profit boards and committees regarding best practices and other compliance matters, including compliance with New York’s recently enacted Nonprofit Revitalization Act of 2013.
Prior to joining the firm, Scott interned in the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York. He also participated in the Syracuse University College of Law Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.
