Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in more than 30 practice and industry groups, is accepting applications for a full-time Legal Billing Specialist to support our Accounting Department in our Albany, Buffalo, Long Island, Rochester, or Syracuse, NY office locations. The ideal candidate will provide billing to our clients and internal customers of the Firm with a high-level focus on customer service.
Position Responsibilities:
Prepare and edit client pre-bills with accuracy and attention to detail.
Coordinate the distribution of pre-bills and follow up with attorneys to ensure timely review, processing, and generation of client invoices.
Respond promptly to attorney and client billing requests, ensuring all inquiries are addressed in a professional and efficient manner.
Conduct monthly reviews of Work in Process (WIP) aging and follow up to guarantee accounts are billed without delay.
Ensure that the Client Management System is up-to-date with name, address, billing group/formats, etc.
Review Unapplied and Retainer accounts monthly and ensure timely application to client accounts.
Assist with special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
Perform additional duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Legal background required, with a solid understanding of billing practices in a law firm or professional services environment.
1–2 years of billing processing experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to manage complex billing cycles.
Experience with the Aderant Accounting System preferred; familiarity with other legal billing platforms is a plus.
Strong analytical skills required, with the ability to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial records.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; advanced skills in data management and reporting are advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to interact effectively with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.
Collaborative team player who can also work independently, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
