Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in over 30 practice groups, is accepting applications for a full time Paralegal to support the Labor Department in our Albany office. The ideal candidate should be able to multi-task, prioritize and organize projects, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills (including advanced Excel) and research and technical skills required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in labor relations, employment litigation or human resources preferred.
Position Responsibilities
For litigation:
Assist in all aspects of litigation
Prepare and electronically file notices of appearance
Review and electronically file pleadings, motion papers and other litigation documents
Assist in preparation of discovery documents, including notices of deposition, subpoenas, document review and bates stamping
Communicate with clients and opposing counsel regarding scheduling of depositions
Assist in trial preparation, including compilation of exhibits for trial and trial books
Review and cite check memorandum to be filed with the court
Monitor court docket, calendar dates, and communicate deadlines to assigned attorneys
Manage and organize case-related documents
For administrative matters:
Prepare and electronically file notices of appearance and requests for extensions
Review and electronically file position statements, supporting documents and responses to requests for information
Assist in preparation of documents to be filed with administrative agency
Assist in hearing preparation, including compilation of exhibits for hearing
Monitor filing deadlines and communicate with assigned attorneys
Manage and organize case-related documents
Requirements
In-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Word
In-depth working knowledge of electronic filing systems/portals for federal and state courts, the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights
Working knowledge and ability to redact electronic documents (i.e., PDF, PPT, WORD)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle a large volume of work
Must be detail-oriented and be able to prioritize daily tasks and responsibilities
Exceptional organization skills and the ability to interact with clients
Must be conversant with and understand the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules and applicable procedures and deadlines
