Faculty Louis Orbach is a graduate of the University of Illinois (B.S., 1990) and the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., magna cum laude, 1993), where he was awarded the Order of the Coif.
A litigator with over 15 years experience, Mr. Orbach has tried cases to jury and bench, argued appeals, arbitrated and mediated disputes, and counseled clients in high stakes matters of contention across New York State and around the country. He has proven himself an effective advocate in venues as varied as rural county courthouses and the Second Circuit in Manhattan, and in subject areas ranging from civil rights to creditors' rights, intellectual property to employment law and ERISA, contract and commercial law to Title IX, and media law to toxic tort.
Mr. Orbach has successfully represented Fortune 100 companies and a world-class university. His work on behalf of individuals and small businesses has been equally rewarding. Mr. Orbach helped a local business secure a preliminary injunction against a multi-national conglomerate in a trademark infringement action the New York Law Journal called a case of "David versus Goliath." His work on behalf of a local school district in a novel matter concerning free speech and the separation of church and state has been covered by the New York Times.
