Edwin J. Kelley, Jr. Honored By Syracuse Newspapers With Annual Community Achievement Award

March 12, 2012

(Syracuse, NY): Mr. Kelley, Chair of the Firm's Business Department and Public Finance Practice Group, is one of only 9 Central New York Community Leaders, including Nancy Cantor, Syracuse University's Chancellor, who are being recognized for making a difference in the Central New York Community. Ed, a life-long supporter of the YMCA, is recognized for applying his leadership, legal experience and financial acumen as a newly elected board president to save and reinvigorate Syracuse's Downtown YMCA facility that was slated for closure due to a variety of problems, including debt, shrinking membership and an aging facility.

Following that success, Ed led the charge to develop a full-service branch facility, the East Area Family Y, in the suburb of Fayetteville which has become enormously popular. Ed again applied his leadership and financial experience to locate the site; develop the plans; and raise the millions required to build the facility.

Ed's passion for helping others goes beyond these projects. His extended family includes a group of siblings from Kenya whose parents were lost to AIDS.
