Celebrating Jane Sovern at the 2025 Legal Services of the Hudson Valley Equal Access to Justice Gala

September 17, 2025

Join us in applauding Jane Sovern’s dedication to equal access to justice.

Bond is proud to announce that Jane Sovern, a member (partner) at Bond, will be honored at the 2025 Equal Access to Justice Gala hosted by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. This honor highlights Jane’s remarkable contributions to nonprofit and educational institutions and her steadfast commitment to equal access to justice. This signature, annual fundraising event of LSHV, which will be held this year on September 17, recognizes leaders whose work expands access to critical legal services for all members of the Hudson Valley community, especially those most in need.

Jane is a leading nonprofit and education law attorney at Bond. Prior to joining the firm, she dedicated the bulk of her career to the City University of New York (CUNY), serving this important institution for over 27 years in roles including Interim General Counsel and Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs. Through Jane’s astute legal assistance and advice to the University’s Chancellor, senior leadership, Board of Trustees and campus administrators, Jane helped to ensure this public institution – which is the largest urban public institution in the nation and graduates over 50,000 students annually – advanced its mission to “provide a public first-rate education to all students, regardless of means or background.”

Jane has been a well-respected leader, colleague, and mentor throughout her career at Bond and CUNY as well as in her various volunteer roles. While at Bond, Jane has represented numerous nonprofits, including educational institutions, and has served as Interim General Counsel at five institutions of higher education in New York City and Westchester County. She is a member of Bond’s Pro Bono Committee, which encourages and facilitates firm attorneys to deliver vital legal services at no charge to individuals in need.

Jane was a member and officer of the Board of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley for six years, including serving as President of the Board during the COVID pandemic. Jane’s dedicated service helps LSHV to provide access to critical legal services for our neighbors.

She is also an active and long-time member and contributor to the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) as well as the NYC Bar Association and Nonprofit New York.

The 2025 Equal Access to Justice Gala brings together leaders from law, business, and nonprofit sectors to support vital legal services across the Hudson Valley. The gala supports critical services addressing housing stability, domestic violence prevention, disability advocacy, elder law, LGBTQIA+ rights and veterans’ assistance throughout the Hudson Valley.

Congratulations, Jane—here’s to lighting the way toward a fairer, more inclusive future!
