Justin L. Vigdor to be recognized in the inaugural Rochester Business Journal Icon Honors Awards

November 28, 2017

(Rochester, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC is pleased to announce Justin L. Vigdor will be recognized in the Rochester Business Journal ICON Honors Awards.

The ICON Honors Award recognizes Rochester business leaders over the age of 60 for their notable success and demonstration of strong leadership both within and outside of their chosen field. Justin will be honored during the awards celebration on December 18 and will be profiled in the Rochester Business Journal on December 22.

Justin is a Life Fellow with the American Bar Foundation and the New York Bar Foundation. He has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his career, including the annual "Justin L. Vigdor Senior Lawyer Award" created by the Monroe County Bar Association, of which he was the first recipient. Justin has been involved with many professional and community activities, many of which he served as a board member. He is highly praised by his peers as well as community leaders.  Here are a few comments from those who work alongside him:

“Justin has been a leading figure in business, the law and in the not-for-profit sector for many years. We are proud to see him recognized among this distinguished inaugural group”. Ed Hourihan, managing member of Bond’s Rochester office.

“Justin Vigdor is a living legend. Not only is he the founding board chairman of the Rochester Fringe Festival, but he has been instrumental in the creation and success of so many of this region's not-for-profit organizations. He is proof that one person can indeed made a difference.” Rochester Fringe Producer Erica Fee

"There are few individuals in Rochester that have participated in establishing such legacy programs like Justin Vigdor. Justin's "iconic leadership" has resulted in the creation of the Al Sigl Center, the Telesca Center for Justice, and now Rochester Fringe Festival, only to name a few. Justin is an ICONIC gift to Rochester, and a most cherished gift in my own life." Mary C. Loewenguth, Clerk of Court, Western District of New York, United States District Court

“Justin is a real treasure for this community. He was part of a group that initially conceived the idea that, if the law offices that provide free legal aid to low income clients were located together in a single building, we could better serve our clients and save money by being more efficient.  He not only chaired the campaign to raise the funds needed to make this possible, but with his leadership we raised over four times our original goal.” Bryan Hetherington, Chief Counsel, Empire Justice

“Al Sigl Community of Agencies congratulates and celebrates our founder Justin Vigdor for the well-deserved ICON Award.  Throughout his over 55 years of outstanding, active service, Justin has blessed our collaboration with his elegant intellect and intense passion. His keen thinking and caring wisdom continue to nurture, impact, and inspire our community to make life better for children and adults with special needs served by our Member Agencies.”  Thomas M. O’Connor, President, Al Sigl Community of Agencies.

“Justin Vigdor is an extraordinary attorney, but it is his personal qualities and character that truly distinguish him. Justin has made a career of tikkun olam, the Jewish value of “repairing the world,” making it a better place. We are thankful that the Rochester Jewish community has been a focus of Justin’s caring attention. He has made the entire Rochester community a far better place.” Meredith Dragon, Chief Executive Officer, Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester
