The New York Bar Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award Presented to M. Catherine Richardson

Established to honor former Officers or Directors of The Foundation whose service and leadership (as Officer or Director of The Foundation) must have significantly advanced the purposes of The Foundation. In addition, the honoree’s service as an Officer or Director and reputation as a lawyer and bar leader must have brought significant recognition and acclaim to The Foundation.

Recipient: M. Catherine Richardson
Catherine’s passion for the legal profession and commitment to community service is remarkable. A brief synopsis of her services includes: being the President of New York State Bar Association (1996-1997); the first woman President of the Onondaga County Bar Association (1987); President of The New York Bar Foundation (2009-2012); Chair of The Foundation Fellows (2005-2008), and a member of the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association (2003-2006). Catherine practiced her entire legal career as a lawyer at Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC in Syracuse. She continues to serve the legal community as board member and past President of ABA Retirement Fund. And if you think she is truly retired, she is currently Chair of SRC, Inc. a company that keeps America safe and strong, a board member of the New York Chiropractic College and the Gifford Foundation, and is one of the co-chairs of Consensus, a commission on the modernization of local government in Onondaga County. A graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego (B.S., 1963), Richardson was awarded degrees from the University of Northern Colorado (M.A., 1969); Syracuse University College of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 1977); and State University of New York (honorary Doctor of Laws, 2005). Catherine is a member of The Foundation’s Legacy Society and a Life Fellow in the Benjamin N. Cardozo Circle of Giving.
