What the OBBBA Says (And Doesn’t Say) About AI
July 30, 2025
By: Marc J. Krawiec
As a follow-up to this week’s Business in 2025 webinar, Bond attorney Marc J. Krawiec discussed current regulation (or lack thereof) of artificial intelligence (AI) in the wake of the passage of the recently adopted federal budget bill. The House version of what is commonly known as the “one big, beautiful bill act” (OBBBA) included language that would have pre-empted state and local AI laws for 10 years. But the subsequent Senate version removed that moratorium. On the heels of the budget vote, the White House then issued an executive order that provides guidance on the procurement of generative AI models in the federal government.
Topics covered in this week's webinar:
- OBBBA and Advocacy Concerning MCO Tax
- How the OBBBA Affects AI — or Doesn't
- New OPWDD Regulations Increase Scrutiny on Emergency Preparedness
- New York Restrictive Covenants Still Not Banned – Still Hard to Enforce
