Sam is a real property attorney who concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial real estate and commercial lending. For more than 40 years, Sam has counseled a wide range of clients, ranging from small closely-held and family businesses to large public companies, in structuring and negotiating various types of real estate transactions.

Sam has extensive experience in the acquisition, sale and development of office, retail, industrial and residential properties, with a concentration in tax-deferred exchanges; leasing from both the landlord’s and tenant’s point of view; conventional, conduit and construction financing; coop and condominium law; and the syndication of real estate ventures, including the drafting of operating agreements and related documents. A large part of Sam ’s practice is devoted to the representation of some of the largest landlords in the New York Metropolitan area in the leasing of office, industrial and retail properties.

Sam has lectured on contract, leasing and financing issues and is the author of a chapter on real estate financing in a coursebook entitled Basic Real Estate Law in New York (National Business Institute, Inc. 1991). He currently lectures on contracts as part of a real estate development course at Hofstra Law School.  From 1998 through 2012, Sam served as a Trustee of the Long Island Chapter of The Nature Conservancy and, during the last two years of his term on its Board, he served as a Vice Chairman. Sam helped found the Long Island Real Estate Group (LIREG), a charity-focused organization of real estate owners, developers and professionals; he has served as LIREG’s Co-President and currently sits on its Executive Board and Steering Committee. For more than 20 years, Sam served as the Chairman of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee for Northern Nassau County which is responsible for interviewing high school students from that area who desire to attend Yale University.  On account of that work, Sam received from Yale its Service Recognition Award. Prior to joining Bond, Sam was a partner at Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid.
