Employers are spending an increasing amount of time handling employee leave issues. Whether employees are seeking time away from work for the birth of a child, to take care of a sick parent, spouse or child, or to address their own serious health condition, employers must keep abreast of the laws and regulations associated with employee leave issues, as well as the potential pitfalls! During this presentation, we will examine the issue of employee leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and provide practical guidance for how to avoid common pitfalls. Finally, we will explore the latest developments regarding the New York Paid Family Leave law.
