Information Governance Senior Analyst - Electronic Records

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in over 30 practice groups, is accepting applications for a full-time Information Governance Senior Analyst, Electronic Records, in either our Syracuse or Albany office locations. Under the direction of the Director of Information Governance and Management and Deputy General Counsel, the Information Governance (“IG”) Senior Analyst (Electronic Records) is responsible for the management of Firm-wide electronic records repositories and systems. The ideal Information Governance Senior Analyst provides expert consultative guidance on all aspects of the information lifecycle from creation to disposition, and they will partner in building a comprehensive Information Governance program to include training and comprehensive documentation.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for the firm’s Document Management System, Intranet, Kiteworks, and other Firm-approved records repositories.
- Train and develop the Information Governance Analyst to assist with Electronic Records projects as needed.
- Assist in the planning and management of the Firm-wide email management and retention initiative, working with all users to ensure email records are saved appropriately to the Document Management System.
- Implement and execute strategy, in coordination with Firm leadership, to migrate electronic records from network file shares to Document Management System.
- Own, manage, and delegate all support tickets related to the Document Management System, including main point of contact for SysAid tickets involving iManage and electronic file repositories.
- Monitor compliance with electronic records repository usage and remediate gaps in usage.
- Conduct analysis of document management system utilization to determine changes needed for implementation or improvement of features and functionality.
- Monitor, identify, and remediate potential threats to unauthorized access or transfer of electronic records.
- Design and develop innovative Information Governance solutions to support Firm policies.
- Play a significant role in the processes of onboarding and offboarding client information.
- Champion current trends related to information management to provide ongoing development of procedures, processes, in support of the overall direction of the Information Governance and Management department.
- Develop, review, and update procedures and protocols for Firm attorneys and staff related to the storing, securing, transfer of, and destruction of electronic records.
- Develop and provide training and awareness programs to departments regarding information handling expectations and practices.
- Provide guidance to users on best practices for managing information from creation to destruction.
- Communicates regularly with firm personnel, clients, and third parties to ascertain the status of client matters to ensure files are handled and maintained appropriately wherever they reside.
- Travel to other offices as needed, including during large onboarding/offboarding projects, office moves, and to conduct training for staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Minimum five years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Extensive knowledge of information governance, data security and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures.
- Project management credentials and/or experience preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency in software applications, including iManage, iCompli (or similar RMS applications), MS Office, DMS import tools, ticketing systems, and other programs used by the Information Governance Department.
- Must be able to work independently under pressure with extremely tight deadlines.
- Experience in the legal environment preferred.

This position's salary range is between $65,000 to $75,000, negotiable based on years’ experience.
