Clerk/Paralegal to the Public Administrator

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in over 30 practice groups, is accepting applications for a full-time Clerk/Paralegal to the Public Administrator to provide support to the Trust & Estate department in the Rochester, NY office. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of professionalism, effective communication skills and will be able to multi-task and prioritize work as needed.
Level of Responsibility
- Open new estate administration matters where the Monroe County Public Administrator is appointed;
- Collect fees on Limited Public Administrator appointments;
- Assist with the administration of estates handled by the Monroe County Public Administrator as requested by attorneys;
- Point of contact for all death calls received by Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, hospitals, nursing homes, and funeral homes;
- Search multiple data bases for relatives;
- Create summary sheets that include assessed value, appraised value, mortgage information, unpaid taxes and beneficiaries of the estate, and present to the Public Administrator;
- Log all real estate and update as needed;
- Coordinate with estate sale vendor or realtor when applicable; and
- Track estates in a spreadsheet and provide bi-annual reports.

- Must be able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities;
- Must be able to multi-task and handle voluminous workflow, work under tight deadlines, balance multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately;
- Must be able to create positive working relationships and effectively communicate with all parties in the transaction;
- Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Must possess excellent writing and verbal skills; and
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

This position's salary range is between $50,000 and $60,000 negotiable based on years of experience.
