Collections Paralegal

Date: March 31, 2026

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 300 attorneys in over 30 practice groups, is accepting applications for a full-time Paralegal to support our Litigation Department in our Syracuse, New York office.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages collection files.
  • Conducts investigations, engages in legal research in the Firm's library, develops pleadings, prepares motions for default judgment and summary judgment for review by assigned attorney.
  • Prepares documents in furtherance of judgment enforcement, including subpoenas, restraining notices, property executions, and contempt motions.
  • Interacts with clients regarding settlement proposals and responses from debtors.
  • Acts as liaison with designated outside counsel and their legal assistant staff.
  • Monitors hourly charges from outside counsel and level of outside counsel expertise on the project.
  • Contacts court administrators and regulatory bodies as needed to fulfill job assignment.
  • Applies principles of the Firm's records retention program in developing files and closing of file.
  • Sends closed file to records center for established retention period.
  • Assist attorney in preparing for interviews in depositions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum three years' law office experience or corporate legal department experience.
  • Experience with civil judgment enforcement and collection litigation.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with Firm colleagues and outside organizations.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work. 
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of professionalism. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. 
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Paralegal certification by an institution approved by the American Bar Association is preferred.
