Clearing the Air About Cannabis on Campus

July 27, 2022

By: Barbara A. Lee, Ph.D.

As a bonus to Bond’s July 26 Back to Business webinar, Bond higher education attorney Barbara A. Lee offers a reminder that, despite the legalization of recreational marijuana in New York State, federal law still prohibits the use, possession and sale of marijuana. Although the U.S. Department of Justice has said it will not enforce those specific laws in states where cannabis is now legal, higher education clients should be aware of a U.S. Department of Education regulation that prohibits marijuana on the campuses of colleges and universities that receive federal funding, including for student financial aid.

The full Tuesday webinar covered the following topics:

  • COVID Update
  • Cannabis on Campus
  • Harassment Hotline
  • New Bundy Aid Requirement: Faculty Diversity Data and Improvement Plan
  • Proposed Rulemaking on Medicaid Fraud, Waste and Abuse Prevention
