(Kansas City, KS): Bond, Schoeneck & King is pleased to announce that John Long has joined the firm’s Collegiate Sports Practice Group. Long has spent more than a dozen years focused on representing clients in a wide range of matters concerning NCAA rules compliance and infractions, student-athlete name, image and likeness (NIL) and Title IX gender equity.

“Since completing his law school career, John has been a student of the NCAA manual and NCAA processes. Through his in-depth writings and good counsel, John has shared his knowledge of NCAA rules with a large audience of compliance representatives, directors of athletics, general counsel and presidents of colleges and universities. We identified John as the perfect complement to Bond’s Collegiate Sports Practice Group,” said Rick Evrard, managing member of Bond’s Kansas City office. “We are proud to have him aboard.”

Kyle Skillman, co-chair of the Collegiate Sports Practice Group added, “John is one of the most active and respected practitioners in this industry, and I have enjoyed working with him in NCAA-related matters for nearly a decade. His addition to our team is an immediate asset for our clients and the firm.”

Prior to joining Bond, Long practiced with two other firms and in private practice specializing in NCAA-related matters. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and his law degree from Marquette University Law School, where he earned the National Sports Law Institute's Certificate of Sports Law. He is admitted to practice in the State of Texas.
