Risk assessments must be part of any compliance program required by the New York Medicaid Program. On August 31, 2017, the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) posted “Compliance Alert 2017-01” to remind Medicaid providers to consider new and developing reimbursement and payment program requirements in their compliance program risk assessments. These new and emerging programs (e.g., managed care, capitation, value based payments, etc.) create the potential for additional program integrity concerns. In its Compliance Alert, OMIG recommends that those risks should be considered as part of a provider’s compliance program.

The Compliance Alert can be found at https://omig.ny.gov/images/stories/compliance_alerts/Compliance_Alert_2017_01.pdf.
