Profile

It is with the complex and controversial estate work that fiduciaries, beneficiaries and litigators turn to Ed for help. He can work through contentious situations to avoid litigation, if that is the goal, or will dive into the thick of trust and estate proceedings, when other attorneys can’t or won’t.

Ed is chair of the firm's trust and estate department, with extensive experience in complex administration of trusts and estates, and trust and estate litigation. He has served as lead counsel in a number of reported decisions in fiduciary litigation cases at both the trial and appellate level. Ed draws on his experience in trust and estate litigation in counseling individual, corporate and business clients in drafting business agreements, succession plans and implementation of estate planning through wills, life insurance arrangements, charitable trusts and planning for retirement and health care issues. He also consults regularly on estate tax matters with clients, certified public accountants and other professional advisors.

He is a frequent lecturer for numerous professional organizations, including the Rochester Institute of Technology Tax Institute, the National Business Institute, the Estate Planning Council of Rochester and the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations. He was previously a partner at Chamberlain DAmanda and managing partner of the firm 1995 – 2012.

In 2011, Ed was honored in Rochester at the 16th Annual Nathaniel Award Dinner and was named as a 2011 Leader in the Law by The Daily Record for his personal and professional accomplishments.
