Mariam works closely with public school districts, nonpublic schools, pre-schools, charter schools, and other business and not-for-profit entities that provide or advise on a range of educational programs. She will also be consulting with higher education clients on student issues.

Mariam comes to Bond from the Office of General Counsel of the New York City Department of Education (DOE) where she worked for more than fourteen years, first as a staff attorney and the last eight years as Director of the Special Education Unit within the Office of General Counsel. At the Department of Education, Mariam led the team that handled administrative special education due process hearings and related appeals to the New York State Education Department’s State Review Office. She also played a major role in developing procedures for expedited dispute resolution of complaints.
