Bond Attorneys Take Part In 2011 National Pro Bono Week
October 26, 2011
In 2011, Bond was nominated for the New York State Bar Association President's Pro Bono Service Award in the large firm category and Thomas E. Myers was recognized for extraordinary pro bono service with an Onondaga County Bar Association Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award.
Although pro bono legal services occur throughout the entire year, this week is designated as the official time to recognize the pro bono efforts of attorneys throughout the country.
In Syracuse, Bond Attorneys will mark the week with a few key activities and accomplishments. Tom Myers, Bond Member and litigation attorney, heads up the Firm's pro bono activities.
October 25th marks the opening of the SAY YES to Education Pro Bono Legal Clinic at Elmwood Elementary School. Bond Attorneys have participated with other Syracuse law firms in staffing SAY YES legal clinics at Syracuse city schools since 2009. Elmwood Elementary School is also where the Firm is involved in a weekly reading program with students.
On Thursday, October 27th, Emily Brown, Associate in the Litigation Department, will be a panelist at the Syracuse University College of Law's event, "Incorporating Pro Bono Into Your Professional Life."
Other continuing pro bono work includes the Syracuse City Court Eviction Defense Clinic and Volunteer Small Claims Arbitrators; pro bono assigned cases through the United States District Court; Village of East Syracuse Justice Court Eviction Defense Clinic; and other various pro bono activities taken on by individual attorneys.
