Dialing into the Details of New York State’s School Smartphone Ban

As a follow-up to this week’s Business in 2025 webinar, Bond attorney and school law practice co-chair Candace J. Gomez recorded a brief overview of New York State’s new smartphone ban for public and charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The new “bell-to-bell” rule, which goes into effect for the 2025-26 academic year, prohibits student use of smartphones and personal, internet-enabled devices during the school day, with some exceptions.
