Extrapolation Explained: An Informational Session on How It Is Employed Within the Processes of the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General

Please join Bond, Schoeneck and King PLLC, on July 28, 2026, for the next webinar in its educational series with the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). In the 11th iteration of our series, OMIG speakers will discuss how extrapolation is utilized in its audit process. As supported in regulation, OMIG may use extrapolation to determine the total overpayments for audits that utilize a statistical sampling method. As extrapolation has been a matter of confusion and, at times, contention in segments of the health care delivery system, OMIG will discuss the practice and its application in the audit process. Program speakers will include Deputy Medicaid Inspector General for Audit Michael (Mike) D’Allaird and Assistant Medicaid Inspector General for Audit Scott Lephart. 

Bond attorney Kaydeen Maitland will introduce the complimentary program. Thereafter, Bond attorney Gabriel S. Oberfield, and William Schwarz, OMIG’s public affairs leader, will moderate an interactive discussion with OMIG’s D’Allaird and Lephart.
