John Sweeney Joins Bond, Schoeneck & King

(New York, NY): Bond, Schoeneck & King announced the addition of John J. Sweeney to its New York City office as of counsel. Sweeney has had more than 30 years' experience managing workers’ compensation programs on behalf of major New York employers. Before joining the firm, he directed workers’ compensation programs for both The City of New York and the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). At the MTA, he managed the legal and claims program for the 50,000 employees of the New York City Transit Authority and the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority.

Prior to his work at the MTA, Sweeney was chief of the Workers’ Compensation Division for the New York City Law Department. He joined the Law Department’s Workers’ Compensation Division in 1989 as an Assistant Corporation Counsel, subsequently serving as Deputy Division Chief and Division Chief.

According to Louis DiLorenzo, co-managing member of Bond’s New York City office, “John is a recognized leader in the field of workers compensation law in New York and authored one of the most well-regarded books on this subject for the New York State Bar Association.
