As a follow-up to this week’s Business in 2025 webinar, Bond labor and employment attorney Nicholas P. Jacobson talked about the Education, Labor and Family Assistance Bill, a new law introduced as part of the 2026 New York State budget. The new legislation limits employers’ financial exposure if they violate another state law that requires manual laborers to be paid weekly. Before, employers who violated the labor law could be fined up to 100% of the missed wages. The new law limits damages to interest lost.
